Tencent announced today that Sony’s Xperia would be the official smartphone partner for PUBG Mobile esports tournaments throughout the world in 2022.

Xperia’s flagship series will be offered to all PUBG Mobile teams playing in worldwide championships this year as part of the agreement. According to the official plan, there are two major worldwide events scheduled for 2022. This is the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (MSC) and the Mid-Season Championship (MSC) (PMGC). The MSC and PMGC will be held in June and December of 2023, respectively, to award a new world champion.

A greater number of individuals will be able to participate in tournaments this year since more are being conducted in more places. The 2022 PUBG Mobile Global Championship and a mid-year tournament will be the main events (details on the latter will be revealed soon).

For PUBG MOBILE Esports, player satisfaction is always a top concern, thus partnering with Sony’s XperiaTM felt natural and assured. This year, we hope to witness even better results from our players in their Xperia flagship series in our worldwide competitions.” PUBG Mobile’s Director of Global Esports, James Yang, made the statement.

Sony put a lot of work into producing the Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III game phones, despite the fact that you may not think of them as such. Since the Mark II generation, engineers have been working with professional players to improve the game. A robot was used to replicate the movement of the players’ fingers so that the display could be fine-tuned. Display refresh rate and touch sampling rate are both 120Hz, by the way, on top of that.

Other elements include the “L- raiser,” which increases the contrast between light and dark in order to make it easier for players to see their foes lurking in the shadows. To see whether or if the tournament rules allow for the use of this feature and Sony’s other game adjustments will be intriguing.

In the past, both firms have collaborated with various brands, but this is the first time they’ve done it together. At the PUBG Mobile World Invitational and PMGC in 2021, the OnePlus 9 Series was a smartphone sponsor for the tournaments. The Call of Duty: Mobile World Championships, on the other hand, had a relationship with Sony’s Xperia in 2020 and 2021.
