Oppo has unveiled an unprecedented rapid charging technique that is twelve times quicker than Apple’s iPhone 13 series.
First day of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2022, Oppo showed a wide variety of innovations, including the newest Find X5 line of smartphones, the MariSilicon X custom image processor, a retractable camera system, the Air Glass extended reality monocle, and more. New rapid charging technology from Oppo were highlighted among the announcements and highlights.
Charge pumps are used in the first, which Oppo refers to as “150W SUPERVOOC flash charge,” which can charge a 4,500 mAh battery to 50% within five minutes and give a full charge in only 15 minutes. To retain the battery at 80 percent of its original capacity after 1,600 charge cycles, 150W SUPERVOOC contains Oppo’s Battery Health Engine, which just debuted in the Find X5 series, double the industry norm of merely 800 charge cycles. In the second quarter of 2022, Oppo will launch 150W SUPERVOOC on certain OnePlus smartphones.
“240W SUPERVOOC flash charge” technology, which can charge a 4,500mAh battery to 100% in only nine minutes, was also announced by the manufacturer. 240W SUPERVOOC surpasses Realme’s 150W charging, making it the quickest charging technology of its type.

In addition to a custom-designed control chip that monitors voltage, current, and temperature, the 240W SUPERVOOC charging system complies with guidelines for heat dissipation despite its high power output. First smartphones with 240W SUPERVOOC from Oppo haven’t been announced.
Wired 20W fast charging is available on Apple’s iPhone 13 small and 13-inch models, while the 23W and 27W versions of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are available on the larger models. When charging, the iPhone 13 models do not maintain peak power for the duration of the charge cycle.
With a 20W power adapter, a Lightning to USB-C connector, and an iPhone 13, users can charge the iPhone 13 from 0% to 50% in 30 minutes, and from 50% to 100% in around two hours, which is much slower than either of Oppo’s new charging methods.
