Oppo, a Chinese smartphone maker, has also revealed plans to confront Apple on a worldwide scale with a new generation of premium handsets, beginning with the recently unveiled Find X5 (via South China Morning Post).

After acquiring OnePlus, Oppo, presently the world’s fourth-largest smartphone vendor, apparently rediscovered its passion for making high-end devices for overseas markets. To challenge Apple and Samsung in the premium market, Oppo’s foreign sales and service vice-president Zhang Zhouchuan says his business would deploy its Find line of handsets and custom-designed CPUs.

Oppo today introduced its next flagship smartphone, the Find X5, which is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 engine and the company’s custom-designed MariSilicon X image processor. In order to increase low-light video quality, the chip has been built to enhance the camera’s capabilities. However, it is predicted that the Find X5 series would be among the most expensive ever sold by the firm, putting it squarely in competition with the iPhone 13 and Samsung Galaxy S22.

It is said that Oppo is working on more bespoke chips to enhance particular features, like as quick charging, in addition to the MariSilicon X CPU seen in the Find X5. Zhang said the business has allocated its chip inventory to favour premium models in key countries and expects supply concerns to alleviate in mid-2022.

Due to significant growth in Western Europe and South America, Oppo expects its high-end models, including the Find and OnePlus series, to quadruple in sales annually by 2022. Huawei, China’s former leading smartphone seller until being forced to withdraw from the U.S. market, is also looking to fill the hole left by Xiaomi.
