Samsung’s Galaxy S22 series is rumoured to have three devices in sizes comparable to the 5.4-inch iPhone 13 small, 6.1-inch iPhone 13 and 13 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max. Samsung is developing a 6.1-inch S22, a 6.5-inch S22 Plus, and a 6.8-inch S22 Ultra smartphone.

Several leaks, rumours, and mockups have given us a glimpse of what we may anticipate from Samsung’s newest handsets. The two smaller smartphones will have rounded sides and triple-lens cameras, while the high-end flagship will have a boxier shape similar to the Galaxy Note, as well as a built-in S-Pen holder and a four-lens camera arrangement.

The improvements from Samsung are believed to be minimal, but the two more cheap handsets will include improved 50-megapixel main cameras as well as ultra wide and telephoto lenses. Apple is expected to include 48-megapixel cameras in the iPhone 14 Pro models, although as of today, Apple’s iPhone 13 camera lenses are 12 megapixels.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra may include a 108-megapixel main camera with a Super Clear lens for reduced glare and reflections, as well as an ultra wide lens, a telephoto lens, and a periscope lens for zoomed-in images. Apple is working on periscope lens technology, but speculations claim it won’t be available on the iPhone until 2023.

Hole-punch camera designs, as well as new body colours and performance enhancements, are expected for the S22 lineup’s front display. When February 9 arrives, we’ll hear more about how Samsung’s new flagship smartphones compare against Apple’s iPhone 13 handsets.

On Wednesday, February 9, Samsung will have its first “Unpacked” event of the year, and the South Korean giant is expected to announce new flagship smartphones that will compete with Apple’s iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro models, which were released in September.

The Samsung Unpacked 2022 event begins at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT/3 p.m. GMT.

In terms of phones, this refers to the upcoming Galaxy S22 lineup, which is slated to have three models: the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra. The first two phones are likely to be simple improvements to their Galaxy S21 predecessors, but reports claim that the S22 Ultra will be more in line with Samsung’s Galaxy Note series, right down to the integrated S Pen.

The Galaxy S22 is unlikely to be the only product showcased during Unpacked on February 9. Rumors also say that the Galaxy Tab S8 will be unveiled at the event, along with three additional tablets. Samsung’s updated tablet is expected to feature a new processor and a notched display, among other changes.
