A TikTok video displays the phone’s look and feel.

There is still a long way to go before the complete debut of the Google Pixel 6a on July 28. An additional unboxing clip for the new Google mid-range smartphone has emerged, giving us a closer look at the device.

From @anjangz on TikTok (via 9to5Google(opens in new tab)), the unwrapping offers exactly what you’d expect from an unboxing. It’s actually four phones, all in the charcoal Charcoal colour, that are shown off in the presentation.

We see a quick glimpse of the phone powering on, but the software interface is completely obscured. The USB cord and USB adapter are readily visible on the inside of the container.

Tensor chip promotion

Earlier this month, we came across another Pixel 6a unboxing on a Google-affiliated YouTube channel in France. It’s not clear how long this latest clip will be available on the internet, since the last one was taken down.

The new TikTok film doesn’t reveal anything new about the phone, but the Google Tensor processor gets a large shout-out on the inside of the box, which shows how crucial the chipset is to Google’s phones these days.

On May 11, Google announced the Pixel 6a’s existence at Google IO 2022, where it was revealed. As of this writing, the phone will cost $449 / £399 / AU$749. Preorders will begin on July 21 in Australia and the United States.

What we know so far about the Google Pixel 6a

Considering how much more information Google has given us about the Pixel 6a compared to the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, we already have a good idea of what to expect when it goes on sale worldwide on July 28.

As previously mentioned, the display will be a 6-inch OLED with a resolution of 1080p and a refresh rate of 60Hz. Despite the fact that the Pixel 6a has an IP67 rating, it does not include wireless charging.

The Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro both use the same Google Tensor chipset, which is accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage on the inside. The back of the phone has a dual-lens 12.2MP+12MP camera, while the front has an 8MP camera.

There are no colour options for the specs, but you can choose from Charcoal (grey), Chalk (white), and Sage (green) (green). We’ll let you know what we think when we get our hands on it.
