It’s here: Samsung’s newest Chromebook for education, the Galaxy Chromebook 2 360, has been unveiled at CES 2017. In the UK, the gadget was unveiled at the BETT meeting and will be available from April 15th.
Samsung will present a keynote lecture at 12:30pm today, Thursday 24th March, with Joe Walsh, Director of B2B, Samsung UK and Ireland and Reuben Christian Edutainer, Founder of Dream Rehab and mentor for Solve for Tomorrow. Samsung’s unique products will be used to inspire and empower the next generation of innovators and leaders. Students as young as eleven will be taught critical and creative thinking skills via Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow initiative, which will be discussed at length.
In tablet mode, the 12.4-inch TFT touchscreen on the new Chromebook 360 can swivel all the way back to 2560 x 1600px resolution. An optional LTE connection may be added to the device’s camera.
In this case, Intel’s Celeron N4500 CPU and Intel UHD graphics take care of the hard work, and you receive 4GB of LPDDR4x memory and 64/128GB of eMMC storage in the process. A headphone/mic combination jack, microSD card reader, and nano security slot round out the I/O options. With a battery capacity of 45.5 watt-hours, Samsung says that the laptop can operate continuously for up to 10 hours.
The 4/128GB LTE-enabled Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 is available in a single Silver colour and begins at £419 for the Wi-Fi alone trim.
The Solve for Tomorrow initiative, which plays a significant role at BETT in Samsung’s efforts to empower and assist kick-start the careers of future innovators, will also be discussed during the conference. Young people may participate in this year-long challenge to learn about how technology can help solve some of society’s most pressing problems, with no previous credentials required.
With the very successful Solve for Tomorrow: Next Gen programme entering its second year, Samsung is gearing up to kick off the second year in April. There is a pre-registration period for instructors at BETT 2022, where they may get their hands on the new materials.
Prices for the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 range from £419 for the 4/64GB Wi-Fi only variant to £499 for the LTE-enabled 4/128GB model.
