Top Boy season 4 – sorry, season 2 – has finally been assigned a Netflix release date.
The blockbuster drama will return on March 18, 2022, according to the streamer’s StrongBlackLead Twitter account. And, like most other Netflix programmes, we expect fresh episodes to be released in bulk on that day, so you won’t have to wait long between viewings.
So, what’s the deal with the season differences? Top Boy’s first two seasons aired on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom in 2011 and 2013, respectively. That implies Netflix is selling this fourth instalment as Top Boy’s second, while it’s actually the second to be commissioned by Netflix. In addition, the first two seasons of the show may be found on the service under the title Top Boy: Summerhouse. Is everything clear now? Good.
Top Boy, created and written by Ronan Bennett, chronicles the criminal escapades of city gangsters Dushane and Sully (Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson) in the fictitious Summerhouse estate in Hackney, London.
The couple were reintroduced in Netflix’s revamped series, along with new characters Jamie (Michael Ward), Shelley (rapper Little Simz), and Jaq (Jasmine Jobson). And, based on the promotional material published by Netflix thus far (see below), it appears that all five will be back in the ring for Top Boy season 4.

The jury is still out on what else we know about the show’s forthcoming episodes.
Following Modie’s capture and incarceration at the conclusion of season 3, it appears probable that a new nemesis will appear on the Summerhouse estate in season 4, possibly with a plot to disrupt Dushane and Jamie’s newfound alliance (as extensively hinted by the show’s most recent finale).
The aforementioned Netflix posters all have the same motto – “loyalty before everything” – implying that relationships would be tested, destroyed, and maybe healed in Top Boy season 4.
Plot specifics, on the other hand, are few and far between. Still, with the March 18 release date fast approaching, Top Boy fans may relax knowing that the wait to learn more won’t be too lengthy.
