The colours and storage capacities of the Google Pixel 6a and Pixel Watch have been leaked by carriers.

There has been an apparent confirmation that both the Google Pixel 6a and Pixel Watch will be available shortly, along with a taste of their appearance and specifications.

An Android Police leaker claims that both items have surfaced in an unspecified U.S. mobile carrier’s inventory management system with their code names in place of their actual names. This is where the specifications and colour information come from.

Start with the Pixel Watch, which has been given the pseudonym “Rohan” in the database. Sources say this will come in grey, black, or gold and feature 32GB of storage capacity. Compared to the 16GB found in the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and the Apple Watch 7, this is a rather large memory module. According to Weinbach’s sources, the carrier has only ever marketed cellular-connected watches, so a cellular version of the Pixel Watch appears plausible.

There is no word yet on whether the Pixel 6a or “Bluejay” will have a colour choice other than white/black or green/green, with 128GB of storage as the default. While the Pixel 5a only came in black, this is the same amount of RAM as the Pixel 5a.

The Pixel 6a and Pixel Watch haven’t been given a specific release date, but their presence in this inventory system suggests they will be available soon. The assumption that they will debut concurrently also makes sense.

We were expecting Google to unveil the Pixel 6a in August at the earliest. Last year, the Pixel 5a was introduced, and the Pixel 4a is scheduled for release in 2020. However, with Google reportedly sharing information with carriers and many reports pointing to a May release date for both the Pixel 6a and the Pixel Watch, this year may not be the case.

As a result, Google I/O 2022, which is held annually in May, would be the most logical time for a release. While Android 13 and other software are likely to be the focus of this conference, it is not uncommon for Google to unveil hardware as well. After all, the Pixel 3a was first shown off during an I/O event.

Claims about wireless charging and Pixel Watch’s performance

On Twitter, Max Weinbach added a few additional tidbits about the Pixel Watch that made it seem even more intriguing.

He believes that the Pixel Watch will be powered by the same processor as the Samsung Galaxy Gear S4 and S5. That seems logical, considering the recent collaboration between Google and Samsung on wearables. With “Material You, better software, improved device compatibility, and greater storage with a superior design,” he believes the Pixel Watch can outperform its Samsung counterpart.

Second generation Google Pixel Stand wireless charger contains a smartwatch-sized groove on its bottom lip, which can be used to power up Pixel Watch. Weinbach points out this fact. A $69 charging stand for a smartwatch may sound excessive, but if it can be charged by any wireless charger, rather than requiring a cradle, that would be a welcome addition. source
