Hey, Siri, How Old Am I? Some iPhone users were given the incorrect age

If you ask Siri how old you are, there’s a good chance the voice assistant may get it incorrect if your birthday isn’t yet this year.

For example, even though my birthday is in April and I am still 27 years old for a few more months, Siri informs me that I am now 28 when I am questioned. According to the Dutch blog iCulture, the mismatch is most likely due to Siri incorrectly calculating birthdays by just taking a person’s year of birth into consideration and not the month or day. As proof of this, Siri displays the right age for everyone who has a birthday this year that has already gone.

If Siri doesn’t know your age, it’s because you haven’t updated your birthday to your iPhone’s contact card. Also Apple Alerts macOS Catalina Users Not to Install macOS 12.3 Beta on Volumes With FileVault Enabled

While you are most likely aware of your own age, the problem extends to the ages of anybody in your iPhone’s contacts list for whom you have entered a birthdate. Siri, for example, tells me that my wife is 29 years old when she is actually 28. Also PS5 restock update: Track on Twitter, Best Buy, Target

We questioned a few iPhone users running iOS 15.3 and the iOS 15.4 beta to ask Siri how old they are, and all but one stated the incorrect age showed. It is conceivable that the problem does not affect all users for unknown reasons.

Overall, this is a small issue, but it does not improve Siri’s reputation. Fortunately, Apple should be able to resolve the issue quickly.
