Authentic Cabbage Roll Recipe

This is a simple and fast dinner option. Cabbage Roll is one of my least favourite foods, yet they go crazy for this. Green beans, fresh potatoes, corn, and a loaf of cornbread round out the meal. Every time, they consume more than half of the pan. Also, the longer it sits, the greater the flavour.

UNSTUFFED CABBAGE ROLL SOUP

All of the delicious tastes of classic cabbage rolls may be found in an unstuffed soup version. It’s meaty, substantial, and packed with vegetables. ‘

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 small head cabbage, chopped
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

Medium-high heat a Dutch oven or big pan. In a heated Dutch oven, brown and crumble the meat and onion for 5 to 7 minutes; drain and discard the fat. Cook until the vegetables are tender and the liquid is reduced by half. Remove from the heat and season with salt and pepper, if desired. Boil cabbage in a Dutch oven until it is soft, approximately 30 minutes, with the lid on.
