This year’s Xiaomi 12 Ultra will serve as a showcase for what Xiaomi and Leica can do together. How much can we expect from the camera when the phone is expected in July, just two months after the alliance was announced?

Camera hardware on the 12 Ultra is expected to be nearly identical to that of the Mi 11 Ultra, according to reports. OIS-enabled telephoto and ultra wide-angle cameras will be included in this configuration, as well as a 50MP main camera (perhaps a new sensor). Leaked specifications for the new Ultra have been provided by Yogesh Brar, a well-known leaker.

An additional sensor, a 3D ToF sensor, will be added here. The front-facing camera should have the same 20MP resolution as the Ultra from last year. Instead of the Mi 11 Ultra’s 6.81-inch non-LTPO panel, a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate appears to have been used.

According to the report, the phone will get a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 CPU and 8/12GB of LPDDR5 RAM as well as 256/512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. MIUI 13 will be pre-installed on the device (based on Android 12).

Finally, the electric system – a 4,800mAh battery with 67W wired and 50W wireless fast-charging. It’s been said that the Ultra will have 120W wired charging like this year’s Pro, but the information is conflicting.

These alleged specifications are missing some information. There may be a secondary display on the rear of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, for example. We don’t know for sure, but rumor has it that it will have the iconic red Leica logo and a leather texture on the back to better represent the Leica brand. Speculative renderings indicate a glossy finish, even though it might be a special edition. The absence of a backlit display is also a concern.
