Xiaomi’s next super-phone that is Xiaomi 12 Ultra
In the current flagship generation from Chinese tech giant Xiaomi, we’ve already seen the Xiaomi 12, but no official confirmation has been made of the highest-end model.
Although the Xiaomi 12 Ultra has yet to be officially announced, we have heard enough rumours and leaks to be quite certain that this high-end, high-priced smartphone will be released at some point in the future.
Xiaomi will utilise this next phone as a showcase for the best specifications and features its design team has to offer. Everything we’ve learned thus far is summarised in the table below.
There were three strong cameras and a second display on the back of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra when it was introduced in 2021. The CPU was swift and the charging was fast. Many folks were put off by its exorbitant price point.
So, although the Ultra from last year was great, there are a number of tweaks the Xiaomi 12 Ultra may do to obtain a higher grade from us. So we’ve also made a brief list of requirements for the next phone.

Xiaomi 12 Ultra price and availability
However, there are still many more devices to come from Xiaomi’s 12-series — including an Ultra 12-Lite and a 12-Lite Pro as well as an Ultra 12-X and an Ultra 12-X Pro.
When the Mi 11 goes on sale internationally, we may expect the Xiaomi 12 Ultra to be introduced in March or April, when the regular phone is released. As Xiaomi’s Ultra phones have only seen two incarnations so far, it’s difficult to foresee a trend.
According to a single source, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 5 is the only top-tier phone the company plans to release in 2022, and the Xiaomi 12 Ultra isn’t on the list. Take this allegation with a grain of salt, since we haven’t heard it repeated much.
The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is expected to be released in Q3 2022, which means July, August, or September are the most likely months for its debut.
In terms of cost, the word ‘expensive’ is a good one, albeit a little imprecise.
To put it in context with the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and iPhone 13 Pro Max, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra retailed for £1,199 / AU$1,799 (approximately $1,600). This year is likely to be the same as last.
We haven’t heard any official pricing leaks for the Xiaomi 12 Ultra as of yet, but based on the specifications, it seems to be equally as pricey.
Rumors
When it comes to the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, we’ve seen a lot of information from earlier phones, like the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro. Non-Ultra products have been launched, and similarities between them may indicate characteristics that may be included in the Ultra.
There is a minimum of 8GB RAM and 128GB storage on both the basic and Pro models of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU, as well as 32MP front-facing and 50MP rear-facing cameras. This is what we found in the Ultra’s specifications.
Also included are three 50MP rear cameras, a 6.7-inch 2K display, and a 120W wired charging port for the Pro model. It would be interesting if any of those locations were downgraded by the Ultra.
Leaks are the next topic. One feature of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra stands out above the rest: the camera bump. Expect a lot of cameras on the back of the phone based on the round camera bumps we’ve seen on the phone’s metal mould, a digital rendering, and a cover for the gadget.
Another exciting piece of information is that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra Enhanced may possibly be in the works. According to the device’s name, it’s a higher-end version of the “regular” Ultra. We don’t know anything more about it.
