In China, Xiaomi unveiled its 2022 flagship smartphone range in late December, which included the Xiaomi 12 Pro, 12 and 12X, and made them available to the rest of the world in mid-March. The Xiaomi 12 Lite, a mid-range phone in the series, is currently under development by the firm. Some of the gadget’s major specifications have been found in different web databases, indicating that the item would be released soon.
According to the IMEI database (via MySmartPrice), the Xiaomi 12 Lite has the model number 2203129G, while Geekbench and the FCC listing reveal that it will ship with Android 12 and MIUI 13 preinstalled. The phone is expected to come in three different configurations, each having either 6 or 8GB of RAM and either 128 or 256GB of storage.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite was released last year, only a few months after the company unveiled its 2021 flagship series. The Xiaomi 11 Lite NE, a 5G version of the gadget, was later added to the lineup, considerably expanding the range. For this year’s Xiaomi 12 series, a ‘Lite’ model is expected to be added, which suggests that the firm intends to continue the same pattern.
Compared to the previous year’s Xiaomi 11 Lite NE model, this year’s model is expected to be even thinner and lighter, weighing only 158gms and measuring just 6.8mm thick. The ‘Lite’ edition of Xiaomi’s flagship series is positioned as a lifestyle phone that emphasises aesthetics and portability. However, the Geekbench listing reveals that it would be powered by the Snapdragon 778G processor, which was used in the Lite NE edition of last year.
This phone is expected to have a 6.55-inch curved OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and a triple-camera configuration consisting of a 64MP main camera. This phone is expected to have a 64MP primary camera. It’s just a matter of time until the phone becomes official, and that’s likely to happen in China first, before spreading to the rest of the globe.
