Why Elden Ring is a better choice than Dark Souls

Despite being set in different worlds, the games developed by FromSoftware have a common DNA, which is why they are collectively known as the Soulsborne series by its fans. Elden Ring, like Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die, is the newest member of this exclusive club. This monster-filled open-world RPG, like its predecessors, is famously tough to beat even by the most experienced players. Soulsborne games are polarising because of their notoriety, which divides gamers into those who like them and those who don’t.

Soulsborne games are hard, but they’re also fair, and a game that punishes your errors isn’t the same as a game that punishes you. Even so, when someone on the internet advises you to “become excellent,” but doesn’t explain how, it may be quite aggravating.

Elden Ring and other members of the Soulsborne community might discourage you from attempting the series by praising their abilities. There are a lot of titles out there, and it’s easy to be sucked into one after the other. Each Soulsborne game has a distinct fighting style: Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls reward careful defensive play, Bloodborne requires aggressive, close-quarters melee, while Sekiro pushes you to master your frame-perfect parries.

For those who persevere long enough to master a Soulsborne game, they’ll be rewarded with a horrific fantasy adventure filled with weird vistas, unusual creatures, and a universe that drags you deep into its depths with tempting mythology.

The PS5 version of Demon’s Souls makes it easier than ever to get into the Soulsborne series, but I’d recommend Elden Ring as a better place to get started.

The fights are better than ever before..

FromSoftware’s fighting is the main appeal of all of their games. The settings and plot are excellent, but because you’ll be battling for the most of your time, it’s best to begin from the beginning of the game.

The open environment of Elden Ring is what sets it apart.

Initially, Elden Ring’s battle mechanics may seem confusing, but this will quickly become apparent. A combat lesson and the early-game Cave of Knowledge are your only remaining obstacles to mastering the fundamentals of rolling and blocking and knowing when to go on the attack against your foes. Other Soulsborne games use similar strategies, but Elden Ring stands out because of its expansive open environment. If you encounter an opponent type that proves to be too much for you, you may simply backtrack to another location and try a new method of attack.

No longer do bosses act as stumbling blocks to your advancement until you’ve fully conquered them. Choosing who to fight and when is often a choice while playing a strategy game. You may take a break from the game, level up your character, and return stronger.

Each sort of weapon behaves differently, and there are plenty to find and understand. Even the tiniest, most inconsequential brawl has a bewildering amount of variables to consider, thanks to the many perks and talents you acquire and your weight limit (decided by your stats and the equipment you’re holding). This is what makes Elden Ring fun to play: you have to figure it out for yourself, and the satisfaction of doing so is immeasurable.

You have complete control over how fast or slow you choose to play.

There are just a few bosses in Elden Ring that must be defeated in order to continue the quest and reach the game’s conclusion. The Lands Between may be explored at your own pace. Even if you’re a low-level character, you can take on that enormous pot-shaped adversary. If you know you won’t be able to make a move in a certain area, you may usually bypass it. Many games, much alone Soulsborne titles, don’t provide this much flexibility.

It gives you a sensation of power over a frightening environment while introducing you to Elden Ring and its difficulties. (In light of this, we’ve compiled a list of Elden Ring basics.)

It’s littered with vile, unnerving animals.

I thought I was prepared for strange sights after playing many Soulsborne games, but after spending over 100 hours in Elden Ring, I learned otherwise. Image of an attractive young lady devouring eyes like grapes continues to haunt me. Finally, the centipede-like guardians lurk in the shadows, ready to attack at any moment.

The bizarre horrors of Elden Rings don’t terrify so much as they pique our interest.

If you haven’t already done so, look at Elden Ring. There are hideous monsters, frantic dancing, and other strange behaviours among the people who live in the Lands Between. These weird creatures pique your interest rather than make you want to run for the hills.

Enormous challenges await you in Elden Ring, which encourages you to become stronger, investigate every nook and corner, and open up the map in order to find out what’s going on there. There’s a whole new world out there to discover, and it’s full of life and inventiveness at every turn. In spite of all the strangeness and decay, there is a glimmer of optimism. As a result, the Tarnished is a standout Soulsborne title, and that’s a good incentive to go in head first.
