End-to-end encryption is something that WhatsApp is now putting through its paces. WhatsApp 22.6.0.74, the most recent build issued to those participating in the TestFlight beta programme, has the fix.

It’s a little tweak, but it’s meant to serve as a reminder to users that no one can see their messages, not even WhatsApp. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp desktop users will soon see the same footer message.

A similar piece of information will soon be available at the bottom of your conversation list on WhatsApp, as seen in the picture below: Whatsapp is also proposing a footer below your conversations that will provide these details in a future version of WhatsApp Desktop beta.

Users who use the Program Store version of WhatsApp will not be affected by this change, since it is a minor tweak that won’t impact how most people use the app. However, it’s crucial to be reminded that WhatsApp talks are private and safe at a time when individuals are worried that their government is monitoring their interactions.

Despite being owned by Facebook’s parent company, Meta, WhatsApp is already one of the greatest iPhone applications for what it does.
