Misinformation and spam are being combated by WhatsApp.
According to reports, WhatsApp is now experimenting with capping the amount of recipients that can receive a forwarded message. Currently, there isn’t one, but WhatsApp’s newest beta update introduces it.
As of the most recent version of WhatsApp beta, users may only send forwarded messages to a single group conversation. Apps like WhatsApp are awash with spam and disinformation that spreads like wildfire, making this a plausible reason for the change.
Some Android beta testers already have access to the modification, according to WABetaInfo, but those in the WhatsApp TestFlight programme will have it as well.
You can see in this picture that it is now unable to transmit forwarded messages to more than one group chat at a time, which is an additional technique to reduce spam and disinformation. Only communications that have already been forwarded are affected by the new regulations for message forwarding. Some Android beta testers have already received the new restriction, but WhatsApp is now rolling it out to additional individuals who install the current WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.8.11 update, and more people will get the same adjustments in the near future.
Unfortunately, there is presently no indication of when this additional forwarding restriction will be introduced to the version of WhatsApp that is accessible in the App Store. Currently, WhatsApp is one of the greatest iPhone applications for what it does, and if this modification may slow the spread of misinformation, that’s a good thing.
