Hacks season 2 premieres on HBO Max, and it features two hilarious women on the road. Actress Jean Smart returns as Deborah Vance and actress Hannah Einbinder as Ava Daniels on a cross-country tour to test out Deborah’s new stand-up routine for her new comedy series.

Stand-up icon Deborah and a millennial comedy writer form an odd comedic duo in Hacks. Reluctantly, Deborah heeds the advise to keep her long-running Las Vegas show relevant by retooling her gags for a younger audience.

Hacks season 2 premieres with two episodes on Thursday, May 12 at 3 a.m. ET on HBO Max.

Her agency arranges a meeting between her and Ava, who just lost her job after tweeting an unkind message. Over time, the women acquire a mutual regard for one other despite their disparities in age.

Deborah gets re-energized in season 2 after a disastrous last Las Vegas act. She and Ava embarked on a cross-country comedy tour to test out new material. When Deborah discovers Ava’s email to the makers of a play about a tough diva, their delicate equilibrium might be shattered at any time.
