Netflix’s top 10 most-watched shows seem to follow a predictable pattern. Bridgerton and The Ultimatum round out the top three, with Selling Sunset season 5 taking the top spot. However, a brand-new programme has appeared on the list, seemingly out of nowhere.

Hold Tight is now the ninth most-watched TV programme on Netflix in the United States. A good showing for a series that most Netflix users probably didn’t know about before its release on Friday. (April 22). After the murder of his closest friend, a young man goes missing in Poland, setting the stage for this six-part drama. It all begins with a slew of secrets and lies unravelling in a tight-knit, wealthy neighbourhood in Warsaw.

Magdalena Boczarska, Leszek Lichota, Grzegorz Damiecki, and Agata Labno all feature in the production, which has a Polish cast. Harlan Coben wrote the novel on which the miniseries is based, although the show is produced by a Polish production company.

It’s not the first time Coben’s books have been adapted for Netflix, with the likes of The Innocents, Stay Close, and The Stranger all finding their way onto the streaming site in the last year.

Coben’s latest novel, Hold Tight, is in keeping with the author’s prior works. The six episodes of the programme are packed with surprises, as well as some heavy subjects including parental control, adolescent suicide, and drug misuse. There are a number of twists and turns in store for you in each episode leading up to an explosive finish. The programme has all the components for a binge-worthy series.

Netflix has yet to read any of Coben’s further works. Expect to see novels like Six Years, Run Away and Play Dead adapted after Hold Tight’s popularity. Coben’s distinctive mix of intriguing mystery and deadly deceit has proven to be a hit with Netflix users, who can’t get enough of it.
