This minor Steam change might have a significant influence on my PC gaming

As a PC player, I appreciate how easy it is to purchase, download, play, modify, and keep track of the finest PC games thanks to Steam. However, it is not faultless.

Steam might make it difficult to know at a glance how much space a game will take up on your computer.. It might be difficult to manage storage space on a desktop or gaming laptop when games can take up tens of gigabytes or more to install.

That’s about to change, though, according to the most recent Steam beta update. Until now, the only way to see how much disc space a game takes was to go into your library and click on the big blue install icon (all on relatively small grey on darker grey text). However, the needed amount of space will now be shown in large letters next to that button.

Rather than being tucked away behind a button, this data is conveniently shown right next to the date and time of the last time the song was played. My PC gaming experience is going to be a lot simpler thanks to this little change.

I prefer to download a game on my gaming laptop through a 5G tether and then transfer it to my PC via an external hard drive since I have a weak internet connection. However, there is only 500GB of storage on that device. Prior to downloading a whole library of games, I must determine whether they can all be stored on the same external hard drive.

A few seconds of squinting and clicking on the install button each time I want to know the size of an installed programme adds up to a recurring annoyance.

The Valve Steam Deck will benefit greatly from this capability, since the portable gaming PC lacks sufficient storage. On a smaller screen, it’s best to make the most critical information as simple to find as possible.

As a result, I’m overjoyed that Valve is taking steps to invigorate the whole process. Also, this indicates that the Steam user interface is going to be improved.

While I’m acquainted with Steam and appreciate the features it provides, I’m not certain it has the most user-friendly UI when compared to newer platforms like Xbox Game Pass or Roku. In spite of this, it seems like Valve is making progress in improving Steam. As a result of this, I’m content.
