When Tesla unveiled the Yoke steering wheel for the 2018 Model S, it created quite a commotion. Despite the fact that some individuals swear by it, others believe that it is a danger to their health and safety. Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, has been quick to dispel the doubters’ claims, but there are signs the company is mulling a change of course.

In an updated Tesla service tools menu, one Twitter user claiming to be a “Tesla hacker” claims to have found a reference to the circular steering wheel. Like the one seen on the Model 3 or an earlier Model S, for example.

Both round and yoke steering wheel types are available, according to screenshots.

This isn’t the first time Tesla has strayed from the original Model S design. There are no actual stalks or an old-fashioned horn to be found on this steering wheel, which is also known as the yoke steering wheel.

The yoke of a future Tesla Model S is expected to have a genuine horn, and it’s increasingly looking more and more probable that the whole yoke will be eliminated.

This analysis suggests that Tesla may be able to deliver the whole circular experience in the future. Contrary to Elon Musk’s claims, future Model S owners may not have to learn a new steering system after all.

For the time being, there is no news on whether or not there will be any stalks for indicators or anything else, but we can only hope.

It’s rare to see Tesla back down from a concept, no matter how crazy or outlandish it may be. As a result, this is either because it’s shown to be correct in the long term or at least less incorrect than many people had anticipated

The yoke, though, may be getting the message at Tesla. In some cases, the wisest course of action is not to alter something that was working quite well. Additionally, rounded wheels are the most effective.
