Squid Game season 2 is only a matter of time after becoming Netflix’s most-watched programme of all time. However, it appears that our return to the world of dangerous playground activities and guys in pink jumpsuits may take longer than anticipated.

The creator of Squid Game, Hwang Dong-hyuk, was asked about the show’s future in a recent interview with Variety(opens in new tab). Killing Old People, a film adaptation of Umberto Eco’s novel Killing Old People, has just been completed, and he plans to return to South Korea and begin writing Squid Game season 2.

Viewers will no doubt be disappointed to learn that the script for Squid Game season 2 has not yet been written. According to Dong-hyuk, if all goes according to plan, the show’s second season will be available on Netflix by the end of 2024. There’s always the chance that production will run into a snag and the schedule will have to be reworked.

As of September 20, 2021, Squid Game was one of Netflix’s most popular original series. Within 28 days, it had surpassed Stranger Things and Bridgerton as Netflix’s most-watched show ever, racking up more than 142 million viewing hours.

Violent thriller series about people who are desperate to win big money by playing deadly versions of classic children’s games. Similarly, the first season’s finale was a cliffhanger. In the event that you haven’t seen Squid Game yet, there are clearly more tales to be told in this universe.

Squid Game season 2 may have a waiting list of fans, but Dong-hyuk will take his time writing it because he knows the value of patience. Despite Dong-efforts hyuk’s to pitch the show to Netflix since 2009, it wasn’t until 2016 that he was finally able to get it on the streaming service. Just pray that season 2 doesn’t take as long to be released as season 1.

Even though Squid Game season 2 isn’t on Netflix yet, you’ll have plenty of episodes to watch in the interim, like Alice in Borderlands—another Netflix series that features simple games with deadly twists.
