This summer, when the revamped PlayStation Plus programme begins, gamers wishing to upgrade will be happy to hear that Sony says it is “simply” done.

You have the option to quickly switch to a better benefit plan at any moment, according to an email you got from Sony, as reported by VGC. Pay the difference between your existing plan and your new plan, calculated for the time left on your subscription. This will be required.

There are still many questions unanswered, such as how the upgrade charge would be calculated depending on a user’s remaining subscription term. Even if no formal upgrading plan is announced, people with years of subscriptions to the present service would be overjoyed to hear that it will be preserved. Choosing a lesser tier at the beginning of a subscription doesn’t rule out the possibility of upgrading at any time.

The new PlayStation Plus, announced earlier this year as a competitor to Microsoft’s famous Xbox Game Pass, combines the pre-existing PlayStation Plus subscription with PlayStation Now and will debut in three levels.

It will cost $9.99 a month to join the new system’s Essential tier, which includes two free games each month, discounts, and online play. It will cost $14.99 a month to subscribe to PS Plus Extra, which includes all of the features of PS Plus Essential plus access to a constantly changing library of 400 PS4 and PS5 titles.

Finally, PS Plus Premium will bring an additional 340 PS3, PS2, PS1 and PSP games for $17.99/month.. PlayStation 3 games will only be played through cloud streaming, and will not be accessible for download and offline play. All three levels are covered in our PlayStation Plus Essential vs. Extra vs. Premium guide.

It’s not yet known which games will be included in PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, although a couple have already been announced. According to Sony’s announcement, the launch roster will include major hitters such as Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Mortal Kombat 11 and Returnal.

Sony has stated that the redesigned PlayStation Plus service would be released in Asian regions first, with a debut date of May 23 as the aim. Sony’s native Japan launch is scheduled on June 1, a few weeks later than the rest of the world. On June 13, the service will arrive in the Americas, and it will arrive in Europe on June 22.

Despite the fact that the subscription seems to be a great method to obtain access to more games than you’ll ever have time for, the new PlayStation Plus lacks a major Xbox Game Pass feature. PlayStation Plus Premium customers will not have access to titles like God of War Ragnarok when the programme launches, unlike Microsoft’s extensive inclusion of first-party games. The latter service is substantially less appealing because of this difference.
