Samsung tipped Galaxy S22 camera features to older S21, S20, Note20 and Z-series phones

Samsung has announced that it would backport some of the camera improvements made on the Galaxy S22 series to select Galaxy S, Note, and Z flagships. South Korean forums were the first to share this information, since the changes would be made available to users there first.

Note that certain features are only accessible on certain models, as shown in the table below.

Galaxy S20, S21, Note20, Z Fold 2, and Z Fold 3 now have better pictures at night.

The S22 series’ “Nightography” processing enables night shooting with a telephoto lens in Portrait mode.

Z Flip 4G/5G, Z Fold2, and Z Fold3 all have their auto-framing capabilities improved or enhanced.

To maintain up to 10 individuals in the picture, this function zooms in and out and pans around (standing at up to 5m away). Foldables already had a version of this feature, but Samsung has improved it. The S21 model has a new feature.

Improvements in video call effects are available for the following: Galaxy S20 series (plus FE), Note20 series (plus FE), S21 series, and Z Flip 4G/5G.

To be clear, support for the Galaxy S10 and S10 Lite series and Galaxy Note10 and Note10 Lite series will be available in the first half of 2022.

This functionality is compatible with third-party applications and allows you to modify the backdrop and adjust the microphone while on the phone. Duo, Google Meet, Knox Meeting, Messenger (Meta), Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, Zoom, BlueJeans, Webex Meetings, and KakaoTalk are all supported applications for video conferencing at this time.
