Samsung might bring a custom chipset to Galaxy S series

Rumor has it that Samsung will design its own unique processor for the 2025 Galaxy S-series. Despite the fact that the Exynos family of chipsets may appear to fit that definition, Samsung sells some of its in-house chipsets to other smartphone makers, such as Motorola and vivo, who utilise them in their own devices.

Reports from South Korean media outlets including Inews24 and respected tipster IceUniverse claim Samsung officials are not happy with the response over Samsung’s GOS issue and the poor performance of its Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Exynos 2200, and Exynos 2100 chipsets. Apple’s A-series chipsets are an example of a novel technique that is being studied as a way to improve device performance.

Though Samsung’s proprietary CPU core section was shut down in December of 2019, older pre-2020 Exynos chipsets had custom Samsung cores. If the new chipsets are part of the Exynos series, or if Samsung is starting from scratch, we’ll have to wait to find out.
