The PS Plus Premium’s throwback games selection will include several turn-based shooters when it releases later this year.

Initiation of plot

We now know which vintage PlayStation games will be returning to the PS Plus Premium service when it relaunches later this year, thanks to the leakage of many of the games that were supposed to be included in this tier.

Reddit user the andshrew discovered cover art for Tekken 2, Mr. Driller, and Ridge Racer 2 in the backend of the PSN marketplace, which is used to sell PlayStation games.

Premium members of the PS Plus service will be able to play titles from the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP generations when it relaunches later this year. It seems that all three of these titles will be included in the tier’s new vintage collection, since they appear to be linked to the service.

Only three games have been shown from the PS Plus throwback library, but they give us a good idea of what to anticipate from the service’s offerings.

Playing Ridge Racer 2 on Sony’s portable over the last 15 years has earned the game cult status for many PlayStation enthusiasts, whereas Mr. Driller is an obscure, kid-friendly title. It’s a diverse group of people. There will be something for everyone if the vintage collection as a whole has a comparable spectrum.

Days and days of entertainment

We won’t be able to play the games for a time, however. The new PS Plus will be released in phases over the course of the remainder of the year, starting on May 23 in Asia, followed by the United States on June 1 and Europe on June 22.

A three-tiered plan will be offered for the service. Two monthly downloaded titles and internet access are included in PS Plus Essential as they are in the current edition. To compete with the Xbox Game Pass subscription service, PS Plus Extra gives you access to 400 PS4 and PS5 titles for download.

To round out the package, PS Plus Premium adds the PS Plus library to the cloud and the PlayStation Classics library.

This leak should be taken with a grain of salt, just like any other. It’s wise to hold off on getting too excited about these particular games until Sony officially reveals the PS Plus vintage games list, as seen by the andshrew’s post history.
