Poco X4 Pro 5G and Poco M4 Pro: Everything we know so far

As of today, Xiaomi has introduced Poco X4 Pro and Poco M4 Pro new AMOLED-equipped Poco phones to its lineup: an X-series mid-ranger with a better camera and a 4G variant of the Poco M4 Pro 5G.

Poco X4 Pro 5G

The Poco X4 Pro 5G boasts a 6.67″ AMOLED display with 1,080 x 2,400 px resolution for this generation’s top X-series mid-ranger (20:9). The refresh rate is the same as last year’s X3 Pro, at 120 Hz, but the touch sampling rate has been increased to 360 Hz from 240 Hz (up from 240 Hz). It’s also brighter, with an average brightness of 700 nits and a peak brightness of 1,200 nits. That said, Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the new phone isn’t a direct enhancement (instead of GG6).

This phone is not a straight successor to the X3 Pro, but rather a newer model. With the X4 Pro, Qualcomm has emphasised the display, camera, and battery above other components. The Snapdragon 695 powers the X4 Pro.

The SD 690’s successor, the 6 nm SD 790, has 15% better CPU performance (due to two 2.2 GHz Cortex-A76 cores and 6x 1.8 GHz A55 cores) and 30% better graphics performance (Adreno 619). In terms of efficiency, it’s a good processor, but it falls short of the Snapdragon 860 found in the X3 Pro.

In any case, 6/128 GB and 8/256 GB models are on offer. A microSD card may be added if you don’t require a second phone line on this dual-SIM phone, which has a hybrid slot. The 6 GB model gets an additional 2 GB of virtual RAM, while the 8 GB model gets an additional 3 GB. In addition to sub-6 5G connection, the phone has a 3.5 mm headphone port (with Hi-Res Audio certification), Bluetooth 5.1, an IR blaster, and NFC connectivity.

Large 1/1.56″ 1/1.56″ sensor in the primary camera of the new model offers a noticeable improvement. As compared to the 48 MP 1/2.0″ sensor on the previous year’s model, this is quite the upgrade. With a lens aperture of f/1.9, it is better suited for photography in low light thanks to its 9-in-1 binning, which provides it effective pixels with a size of 2.1 m.

The two remaining cameras are a 2 MP macro and an 8 MP ultra wide (118° field of view, f/2.2, which seems to be unaltered) (no depth sensor this time around). The 20 MP camera of the X3 Pro has been downgraded to a 16 MP sensor (f/2.4) on the punch hole selfie camera.

In addition, the battery has been modified. With the provided adapter, it now charges at 67W (up from 33W), which is still a decent amount of juice for a 5,000 mAh battery. Having a completely charged battery will allow you to watch videos for 15 hours. As soon as the battery dies, the charger can bring it back up to 70% in around 20 minutes, and full 100% in little over an hour (the X3 Pro needed 59 minutes).

The thickness of the phone has been reduced from 9.4 mm to 8.12 mm and the weight has been reduced from 205g to 205g (down from 215g). For basic dust and water resistance, as well as twin speakers and a Z-axis linear motor, it still possesses IP53.

In the near future, the Poco X4 Pro will be released. Laser Black, Laser Blue, and Poco Yellow will be available.

The Poco M4 Pro

After announcing a 5G version last year, the Poco M4 Pro has officially been released (4G). For starters, it has an AMOLED display for the first time in the M-series, as well as a new processor.

The IPS LCD screen of the 3G model has been replaced with a 6.43″ AMOLED display on the 4G variant. It still has a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels (20:9), a refresh rate of 90 Hz, and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. This screen has a higher maximum brightness of 1,000 nits and an usual brightness of 700 nits (instead of 450 nits).

This phone has a Helio G96 processor, which replaces the Dimensity 810 5G. Despite having eight cores, the octa-core CPU only has two large cores, the Cortex-A76s, which operate at 2.05 GHz (vs. 2.4 GHz). Mali G57 MC2 is still the GPU. Even though it delivers almost the same performance as the G96, the G96 is built on an older 12 nm node (instead of the newer 6 nm node). As a result, it will be less efficient.

As an alternative to the standard 4/64 GB memory configuration, the M4 Pro (4G) comes with 6/128 GB and 8/256 GB options. LPDDR4X memory and UFS 2.2 storage are both included, and a microSD card slot allows for additional storage. As the phone runs MIUI 13, 3 GB of virtual RAM is added to the 8/256 GB option.

Even the main camera had a change of heart, or at least the primary camera. f/1.8, 0.7-micron pixels, 1.4-micron binning, 64-megapixel sensor replaces the 50-megapixel sensor. The Poco M phone has the best resolution sensor ever, but the firm refuses to reveal its dimensions. The 118° super wide camera with 8 MP remains, but a 2 MP macro camera has been added. A 16 MP sensor is used for the selfie camera on the front of the phone.

There’s no need to worry about running out of juice, owing to the included 33W charger, which can charge the battery from 0% to 100% in around an hour and a half.

A 3.5 mm headphone connector (with Hi-Res Audio certification) is included on the M4 Pro, as is an IR blaster, NFC, and a Z-axis linear motor. Despite the move to AMOLED, the fingerprint reader is still on the side.

The phone is now 8.09 mm (down from 8.8 mm) and 179.5 g lighter than its predecessor (down from 195g). It still has an IP53 certification for splash protection.

The Poco M4 Pro is expected to be released shortly. You have the option of Power Black, Cool Blue, or (of course) Poco Yellow as your colour scheme.

The Poco X4 Pro 5G has many features with the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, however the Poco M4 Pro is based on the Redmi Note 11. (though with a different camera). The M4 Pro 5G was based on the Redmi Note 11T 5G, therefore it wasn’t a completely new phone. Source
