It’s been six months since the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 XL launched, yet Face Unlock is still missing from the devices. According to speculations, Google had planned to include face recognition in its phones, but due to a scheduling conflict, the technology was not included in the final versions of the company’s flagship phones. While delving into the Android 12 Quarterly Platform Release (QPR) 3 Beta, XDA Recognized Developer Freak07 uncovered additional proof of Face Unlock on the Pixel 6 series.

For present, there is no release timetable for Google’s Face Unlock feature for Pixel 6 phones, based on the evidence. There is also the potential that Google is trying out face recognition on a Pixel 6 smartphone in order to bring the capability to a future Pixel phone. Face Unlock on Pixel 6 was using too much power during the face recognition stage, according to earlier evidence, which is one of the primary reasons Google opted to remove the function.
