Oppo’s new smartphone series may not include a “Pro” variant, but it still has a lot going for it in comparison to many of the other mid-range phones we’ve tested so far.

Last month, Oppo unveiled the Find X5—the company’s new flagship series. In our review queue, we already had the Pro version of the lineup, and now we have gotten the vanilla smartphone. The Find X5 Pro’s notable features are still included in the Find X5’s more economical cousin. After our first conversation using the phone, this is what impressed us the most.

Even though the Oppo Find X3 Pro is no longer available, we still consider it one of the greatest smartphones on the market. As expected, the Oppo Find X5 Pro has received a lot of attention, but we’ve also had a look at the original Find X5.

Oppo’s Find X5 is a stylish phone that is much simpler to hold than the Find X5 Pro, despite the fact that it is neither tiny nor compact. In terms of visual appeal, the 6.55″ screen’s FullHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate provide an excellent visual experience.

Although it sports Qualcomm’s newest processor, the Find X5 has a Snapdragon 888 that drives the Find X3 Pro. MariSilicon X X NPU is a new feature, though, which should greatly enhance camera performance in this model.

It’s safe to say that Oppo’s premium phones have always been known for their fluid and attractive designs, and this new gadget is no exception to that rule. In order to keep the camera from protruding from the back, the screen curls around at the sides.

With a 50MP 1/1.56″ sensor and a somewhat slower F/1.8 lens and no sensor-shift stabilisation, the main camera on the X5 Pro retains optical image stabilisation (OIS).

In addition to a 50-megapixel primary sensor, the Find X5 boasts a 50-megapixel ultrawide and a 13-megapixel telephoto sensor with 2x magnification.

Since the battery capacity of the Find X5 is 4,800 mAh, we should anticipate lightning-fast charging times from 0 to 100 percent. Wireless charging is supported at 30W and 10W, respectively.

The Find X5 is powered by a Snapdragon 888 chipset, which is capable of running demanding games and all of your favourite applications, as well as delivering 5G connection. The chipset is the same one found in the OnePlus 9 Pro, so performance is expected to be excellent (though we won’t know for sure until we put it through its paces for a longer length of time and run benchmarks). There is just one drawback to the X5: it doesn’t have the latest Snapdragon Gen1 processor seen in most recent flagships, including the X5’s Pro sister.

Oppo’s Find X5 is superior than the Find X3 in that it will be available around the globe. We’ll let you know at the conclusion of the review whether the €999 asking price is a good value or if you’d be better off saving your money for anything else.
