A refined version of the Oppo A56 5G makes its debut with the Oppo A57 5G. Updated CPU, more RAM and a better screen are all included in the new version of the phone but it is still an entry-level device. A low-cost 5G smartphone.

Powered by a 6 nm variant of the 700 chip, the Dimensity 810, the new model has significantly faster clock rates. The standard configuration now has 6 GB of RAM (instead of 4 GB), and an 8 GB option has been added. UFS 2.2 (for the 6 GB unit, UFS 2.0 for the 8 GB one) and microSD slots are still available if you need extra storage space.

In addition, this phone comes pre-installed with Android 12.1/Color OS 12.1 (up from Android 11). Virtual RAM may be added to the system up to a maximum of 5GB.

There is a noticeable improvement in the display, with the 6.56″ LCD running at 90Hz (up from 60Hz), although the resolution remains the same at 1,612 x 720. Even if the picture isn’t crisp, at the very least it will contain a broad range of colours. In Natural mode, the display covers 100% of the sRGB colour space and 100% of the DCI-P3 colour space. The usual luminance of 480 nits remains unaltered.

When it comes to cameras, not much has changed. On the rear of the Oppo A57 5G is a 13MP camera with a 2MP depth sensor and a notched 8MP front-facing camera. Both have a video recording limit of 1080p at 30 fps.

The device’s battery has a 5,000 mAh capacity. Unfortunately, it didn’t get an improvement from the standard 10W charging. The only other wired connector is the 3.5mm headphone jack, which is used for charging. Stereo speakers are a new feature above the previous generation.

Wi-Fi 5 (ac), Bluetooth 5.2 (with high-quality aptX HD and LDAC audio codecs) and dual 5G are all additional connection options. Playing games is more steady when you have an additional antenna on the side (as your hands may cover the primary antenna). There’s no NFC, but the fingerprint scanner on the side protects mobile payment systems like WeChat Pay and AliPay.

There are a few essentials included in the retail box, which comprises the phone itself, as well as a charging cord and a case.

It is now possible to pre-order the Oppo A57 5G for sale in China. With a price tag of CNY 1,500 ($235/€215/18,000), the 8/128GB model is the only one now available.

This hardware seems to be almost similar (or nearly so) to the Realme Q5i, which will be released next week.
