The Nothing Phone (1) is coming to threaten Apple and Samsung
The Nothing Phone (1) is confirmed, and this entrepreneur is attempting to build something genuinely different. For the first time in a few years, a new smartphone firm has sprung up, promising something innovative.
That’s because Carl Pei, the company’s founder, helped build OnePlus, a popular smartphone brand. But with OnePlus now far distant from its original objective of top specs for less, perhaps we’re set to see the Nothing Phone 1 fill that suddenly vacant space in the market.

Nothing Phone (1): Release date and availability
The Nothing Phone 1 is arriving “summer 2022.” It was verified at the Nothing event that the phone exists and has a name, thanks to an interview with founder Carl Pei in Wired(opens in new tab). That said, the reveal event will take place on July 12 at 11 AM ET/ 8 AM PT/ 4 PM BST, which is the same time as the game’s official launch on July 11.
Sadly, the Nothing Phone (1) won’t be available in the United States, as it can be difficult to break through with carriers in this market here. Although this phone is now unavailable in the United States, the manufacturer plans to bring another model here in the future.
At this time, there is no word on the cost. Although Carl Pei helped establish OnePlus as a low-cost, luxury brand, we may expect a pricing that undercuts significant rivals like the Samsung Galaxy S22 or the impending OnePlus 10 Pro, or even the already cheap Google Pixel 6.

While many uncertainties remain about the Nothing Phone (1), it is expected to be one of the more eye-catching handsets available in 2019.
Nothing Phone (1): Nothing OS
We have a better idea of how the phone’s interface will look. The images we’ve seen so far show an always-on display, rounded app icons, unique Nothing widgets, and the company’s recognized black and white design style.
Nothing asserts that the “iconic design language” of the Nothing OS is the finest of Android and the “best of Nothing.” Apparently, there are 40 percent less pre-installed apps and a near-stock Android experience on the new phone.

Nothing Phone (1): Specs
We don’t know the Nothing Phone (1) specs yet, but Nothing is teaming with Qualcomm for the handset. A Snapdragon chip, potentially the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, is expected to be used in this device.
The Nothing Phone (1) also claims “quick and smooth performance” by providing customers with the optimal processing power and RAM they require for the specific program they are operating. In addition, the Phone (1) will learn from your app usage habits by launching your most frequently used apps first.
This would only be possible with an OLED panel, based on the pictures’ depiction of an always-on display. We can only hope that this will also translate to a high refresh rate, similar to the 120Hz norm found on more expensive Android devices.
An OLED display with a resolution of 2400 pixels by 1080 pixels is expected to be used in the Phone (1).
Nothing Phone (1): Outlook
With LG, HTC, and other businesses no longer in the mix, the Android smartphone market has decreased over the past few years. In addition, Samsung’s hegemony has grown stale for those in search of something truly unique and intriguing.
