After four seasons, the Netflix comedy Never Have I Ever will come to an end.
It’s yet another day, another Netflix programme has come to an end. In 2022, the streaming service is keeping its reputation for being quick to cancel shows alive, but this time it may not be the exclusive discretion of the streaming service. Never Have I Ever joins a long list of original programmes that have been cancelled this year, and now we have another more to add to the ever-growing list:
Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher are the creators of the famous series about adolescence. In the film, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan portrays Devi, a young Indian-American Tamil girl who is coping with the tragic loss of her father while growing up in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles. The sitcom debuted in 2020, and a new season will arrive on Netflix this summer, according to current plans.
Kaling announced the show’s end on Twitter. Season three of the hit show is still on schedule to air this summer, and a “fourth and final season” will follow. The fourth season of Never Have I Ever is expected to premiere in the summer of 2023, bringing the show to an end.
Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, Darren Barnet, Jaren Lewison, Helen Hong, Ramona Young, and Lee Rodriguez all feature in Never Have I Ever, in addition to Ramakrishnan. In addition to tennis icon John McEnroe, other celebrities who have provided voiceovers for the series include Gigi Hadid and Andy Samberg.
Throughout its course, the programme has received tremendous critical acclaim. Season one had a 97 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while season two received a 93 percent rating. The reason for the show’s termination remains a mystery. According to The Hollywood Reporter, wage discussions for the show’s principal cast of teenage actors were a major stumbling point in its second season.
Alternatively, it is possible that Kaling and Lang demanded a specific end date for the programme, fearing that an extended run would just lengthen the series. Currently, Kaling is working on the second season of her HBO Max programme The Sex Lives of College Girls and the screenplay for Legally Blonde 3, which will be released in the summer of 2023.
A popular programme on one of the greatest streaming platforms has come to an end, but at least the streamer and show’s producers seem to be on good terms in this case. Fans of Never Have I Ever still have two more seasons to look forward to before the show comes to an end.
