After being tracked down via the victim’s iPad, an armed man accused of searching for the daughters of former New York City mayor Mike Bloomberg and kidnapping a maid was apprehended on Thursday.

When Joseph Beecher stormed into Bloomberg’s Colorado ranch on Wednesday, he is alleged to have been looking for his two children, Emma and Georgina. Beecher demanded that maid Amanda Edinger inform him whether the girls were on the property after he broke through the front gate with his vehicle.

Beecher, 48, had previously worked as a handyman in Craig, Colorado, some 70 miles away from the ranch, where he lived and worked.

Beecher ordered Edinger to travel to Wyoming after verifying that the girls were not on the property, according to court records obtained by the New York Daily News. The guy allegedly informed the housekeeper that he would have murdered her if she were a male if she didn’t take money from an ATM.

The housekeeper’s iPad helped investigators locate Beecher at a hotel in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on Thursday. If the Find My network was employed, or if there were alternative means, it is unknown.

While it isn’t clear what Beecher’s motives were, he was said to have wished to “create a worldwide sensation.” He had a pistol and an AR-15 when he was arrested.

The individual also said that he had previously searched the nearby airport for Bloomberg in the summer.

There are federal kidnapping allegations against Beecher, but no state kidnapping charges have yet been brought.

Bloomberg kidnapping full case

A man was charged with abduction by a federal court after it was claimed that he forced Michael Bloomberg’s maid to accompany him on a trip from Colorado to Wyoming.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming on Thursday, Joseph Beecher, 48, broke into Bloomberg’s Colorado ranch on Wednesday and kidnapped a maid, known as A.E., at gunpoint, according to the criminal complaint.

As a result of the swift and heroic actions of the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Wyoming law enforcement, the FBI, and other individuals, there were no deaths and the victim has been rescued and returned to her family, according to a statement from Bloomberg’s spokesman Ty Trippet.

According to the charge papers, A.E. was working at the ranch on Wednesday when an unknown male broke onto the property and approached her with what she described as a black “machine pistol” pointing at her face, according to the records. According to authorities, the guy, subsequently identified as Beecher, threatened to “shoot [her] f***ing face off” and informed A.E. that she would be accompanying him. A.E., who was terrified for her life, complied with his demands, according to the complaint.

According to the criminal complaint, when Beecher ordered her to drive to Cheyenne, Wyoming, and book a room, A.E. was forced to lie in the same bed with him until a SWAT team forced their way into the hotel room due to exigent circumstances.

According to the court papers, Beecher admitted to A.E. that he had conducted a burglary in which he had broken a window and had a cut on his left wrist, according to the charge paperwork.

Officials have petitioned the court to issue a search warrant in conjunction with the investigation.

Billionaire Michael Bloomberg formerly served as the mayor of New York City and is the founder of the Bloomberg news organisation. He paid $44.8 million for the ranch in Colorado, which he acquired in April 2020.

Beecher is being held in the Wyoming city of Cheyenne. Currently, the state has not filed charges against him. His punishment, if convicted of abduction, could include up to 25 years in jail and a fine of up to $250,000.
