The Apple WWDC 2022 presentation, which begins on June 6th, could introduce the MacBook Air 2022 as soon as next week. To tide us over until we see the real thing, here are some delectable renderings of Apple’s rumoured new laptop.

Artist Darvik Patel(opens in new tab) has envisioned Apple’s next entry-level MacBook, and the renders confirm recent predictions that the MacBook Air 2022 lineup will have many hues.

The new MacBook Air might come in a variety of hues, including purple, orange, blue, red, yellow, green, and silver/gray, if these plans are to be realised. For example, the iPad Air 2022 is available in Space Gray, Starlight (white), Pink, Blue, and Purple.

It’s interesting to note that the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro both have a white keyboard in these mockups. The question is, will Apple make this choice available on all of their devices, or just a few? Also, I’m curious as to how clean the keyboard will be after being used for several months.

Compared to the present 13.3-inch MacBook Air, a 13.6-inch display is expected in the upcoming model, according to Wccfetch(opens in new tab). We can’t exclude out a 14.2-inch model, but we doubt Apple will release two Air laptops with such a tight screen size difference.

Bezels around the MacBook Air’s display in this 2022 idea are also noticeably thinner, which would be a welcome improvement. On the top of the display, there is a notch for Face ID, although this does not seem like it will be used for that purpose.

The renders suggest a MagSafe power connector, USB-C, and a headphone jack for the device. In addition, there are two more USB-C ports on the other side, all of which are likely Thunderbolt 4 capable. The MacBook Pro 14-inch and MacBook Pro 16-inch both have SD card slots and HDMI ports.

The rumoured Apple M2 processor for the MacBook Air 2022 is expected to contain an 8-core CPU. High-performance cores and a 10-core GPU could be included in the next Apple M2 processor.

We haven’t heard much about the webcam for the MacBook Air 2022, but we’re hopeful that Apple updates the sensor to 1080p, which would be crucial for better video call quality.

The price of the new MacBook Air is another question mark. If you’re on a tight budget, we’d like to see Apple start at $899 for a more affordable alternative for back-to-school shopping. As of this writing, such price has only occurred on sale for the current MacBook Air M1.

The new features in macOS 13, iOS 16, watchOS 9, and more will be revealed at WWDC 2022, assuming the MacBook Air 2022 is unveiled. On the 6th of June, we’ll have live coverage for you.
