According to the US Geological Survey, a preliminary 4.1 magnitude earthquake struck Thursday morning near Bay Point.
According to the USGS, the earthquake struck at 5:07 a.m. and was centred around 3.6 miles northwest of Bay Point and about 6.2 miles northwest of Pittsburg.
The shaking was felt throughout the Bay Area, from Fairfield in the north to Half Moon Bay in the west to San Jose in the south.
According to the USGS, the epicentre was located on the Concord-Green Valley Fault at a depth of roughly 12 miles.
