According to respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s next-generation Mac mini is expected to have the same design as the present model.

When Kuo tweeted a short message, he suggested that the updated Mac mini is expected to use the same metal unibody design that Apple has utilised for every new Mac mini since 2010. However, a few days ago, Kuo said that the next Mac mini will not be released until 2023.

According to leaker Jon Prosser, who claimed last year that Apple was working on a smaller chassis with a “plexiglass-like” top for the compact desktop computer, Kuo’s allegation is the exact opposite.

A new Mac mini has been rumoured to be in the works for some time. In November 2020, the M1 chip was added to the entry-level Mac mini, while the top-of-the-line model is still the Space Gray model from 2018 with an Intel CPU. There were earlier reports that Apple will replace this outdated high-end model with a newer version of the Mac mini, but it seems like both models may be updated at the same time.

Recent reports claim that Apple initially “had plans” to release high-end Mac minis with M1 Pro and M1 Max CPUs, but they were “probably discarded” in favour of the Mac Studio, according to 9to5Mac Apple is now said to be working on two new Mac mini models, one with the M2 processor and one with the M2 Pro chip.
