iPhone 14 Pro, Apple’s next iPhone, is expected to represent a major departure from the iPhone 13 Pro in terms of design. Rumors have suggested anything from the demise of the notch to the restoration of Touch ID so far.

As impressive as the iPhone 13 Pro is, it’s hard to argue that it’s a slam dunk above its predecessor. Since the iPhone 11 Pro, the iPhone hasn’t made a major jump forwards.

There’s no doubt that Apple will have to up its game to compete with the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra and the Google Pixel 6 Pro. As far as we know, Apple’s upcoming Pro model appears to be capable of achieving precisely that, as seen by the numerous leaks and reports. There may be some significant variations between the iPhone 14 Pro and the other iPhone 14 variants.

iPhone 14 Pro’s features and what we hope to see are listed here.

iPhone 14 Pro rumored release date and price

The release date and price of Apple’s new iPhones are among the most closely guarded secrets in the tech industry. However, based on prior introductions, we’d say September is a safe bet for the iPhone 14 range.

On the basis of what appears to be insider knowledge, the most recent leak suggests that Apple will unveil the iPhone 14 on September 13. According to recent rumours and Apple’s normal pattern of iPhone debuts, that date appears to be accurate.

To avoid excessive wait times for the iPhone 14, which could be affected by supply chain disruptions brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, Apple looks to be taking proactive measures.

LeaksApplePro has stated that three of the four iPhone 14 versions are expected to rise in price, however this is just a rumour at this point.

According to the rumour mill, the iPhone 14 Pro’s starting price would be $1,099, $100 more than the iPhone 13 Pro’s. As for the iPhone 14 Pro Max, the price could go up to $1,199 by the end of the year. Anyone wanting to get their hands on a high-end version of the iPhone 14 would be stinging their wallets if the price of the device went up significantly at launch.

According to Shadow Leak’s tweets, Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro will cost $1,099 for the base model.

Take a peek at our hands-on with the upcoming Apple iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro to see the most significant differences we’ve seen in years.

iPhone 14 Pro design

According to tipster Jon Prosser, secret information has led to a series of renders that show the iPhone 14 Pro in a new light.

Three cameras are flush with the iPhone 14 Pro’s rear in Prosser’s renderings. Contrary to what some rumours claim, the iPhone 14 Pro versions appear to look a lot like their predecessors, the iPhone 13, in some schematics. For the first time, the iPhone 14 Pro has a raised camera array, and it’s even larger than the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The new phones are also believed to be 0.2 millimetres thicker.

It’s also possible that the camera module will increase bigger, according to some reports. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the reason for this is that a 48MP camera requires a larger module. To better match the new module’s curved corners, a new leak suggests that iPhone 14 Pro (but not the Pro Max) corners will be rounded.

The controversial display notch has also been rumoured to be removed from the iPhone 14 Pro’s design. For Face ID, display analyst Ross Young predicts that Apple will offer a pill-shaped cutout, which is basically two separate cutouts. Rumors from EverythingApplePro suggest that this design is now firmly established.

Here is a supposed schematic of the iPhone 14 Pro design from a Weibo leaker. We’re not sure if this would be a better option than the notch.

In what looks to be a leaked supply chain photo, all four iPhone 14 models’ display panels are clearly visible.

Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max appear to have a combination of a pill-shaped cutout and a punch-hole camera or sensor in place of the display notch, while the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max are expected to retain the notch.

Display Supply Chain Consultants, a young and analyst organisation, has once again pushed the concept of a dual-camera iPhone 14 Pro. It will be another year before the ordinary iPhone gets a notch-free display, so going pro with the next iPhone is even more appealing.

An entirely notchless iPhone 14 Pro has been shown off in yet another set of CAD renderings. The asymmetrical design may not scream “Apple” at first glance, but it stands out nonetheless.

Alibaba and Macotakara’s mock-ups of the iPhone 14 are the greatest places to get a sense of what all the design changes mean. The larger camera module on the iPhone 14 models means that iPhone 13 Pro cases will not fit the iPhone 14 Pro, according to Macotakara. This is due to the larger module on the iPhone 14 models.

An under-display fingerprint scanner had been rumoured to be a possible comeback of Touch ID. There is, however, no certainty about this. According to Ming Chi-Kuo, an analyst at KGI Securities, there won’t be a Touch ID or Face ID under-display iPhone for a few more years. As a mask-wearing time of year, it would have been frustrating if Face ID wasn’t an option.

The new Face ID in iOS 15.4 is able to identify a genuine user even if they are wearing a mask. Since it works so effectively, it’s possible that Apple has eliminated the requirement for fingerprint biometrics altogether.

So far, there’s only been one leak on the iPhone 14 Pro’s colour options, and that leak has already been taken down. For the first time, a dark purple colour has been rumoured for this year’s Pro iPhones, according to an anonymous Chinese leaker. Renders by Souta artist Souta can be seen in the gallery below.

iPhone 14 Pro USB-C

The iPhone 14 Pro is expected to have a USB-C port, which would make sense as many of Apple’s gadgets currently have USB-C ports. According to more recent reports, Apple will continue to use Lightning over USB-C but will transition to Lightning ports with USB 3.0 data transfer. It comes as the European Union draws closer to making USB-C the standard charger for portable electronics like smartphones.

If you’re considering the iPhone 14 Pro, USB-C might make all the difference to you. As a result, the Lightning connector is one of the iPhone’s most problematic design flaws. This can make charging your phone extremely tough. The Lightning standard and Apple’s accessory ecosystem are so well-established that it is doubtful that Apple will quit it unless forced to do so.

Ming-Chi Kuo, on the other hand, thinks that Apple will transition to USB-C on the iPhone in late 2023. A fresh Bloomberg article implies that he is correct, and it means we won’t see an official USB-C iPhone until the iPhone 15 is released.

iPhone 14 Pro display

The dynamic refresh rate display of the iPhone 13 Pro was one of the most significant enhancements. Battery life was saved by using an LTPO panel, which was capable of switching between 120Hz and 10Hz at any given time.

From what we have heard about the iPhone 13 Pro, we don’t expect that to alter. However, a newer LTPO panel, like the one in the OnePlus 10 Pro, may be able to enhance power efficiency, as demonstrated in the phone.

The ordinary iPhone 14 models, on the other hand, are expected to feature a 90Hz display, which would be an improvement over the iPhone 13’s 60Hz display but would fall short of the Pro phones in terms of refresh rate.

Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are expected to retain their current displays of 6.1 and 6.7 inches, respectively, based on current rumours. According to a Shadow Leaks report, the iPhone 14 Pro will have the same display sizes as the iPhone 13 Pro, which was leaked earlier this year.

No matter how much time passes, the exact measurements of the various garments will not. Rumors from Ross Young claim that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max could grow from 6.06 and 6.12 inches to 6.68 and 6.69 inches, respectively. Rumored new notch design and thinner bezels may be to blame.

iPhone 14 Pro cameras

Keep your expectations in check for the amount of cameras on the iPhone 14 Pro, which is expected to have a main, ultrawide, and telephoto camera array. That’s not a bad thing, given how frequently Apple phones appear on our list of the best camera phones.

However, a single source suggests that the iPhone 14 Pro would have a 48MP main camera, a significant upgrade from the 12MP cameras Apple has been using for years. When it comes to processing light and details, having more megapixels to work with would definitely give the iPhone 14 Pro greater latitude; we could be at a point where megapixels matter once again to Apple. While Cupertino has some of the best computational photography,

On the contrary, a well-known Apple insider predicts that only the high-end iPhone 14 Pro models would feature a 48MP camera.

Although no alterations have been announced for the ultrawide camera, we wouldn’t be shocked if efforts were made to enhance the field of vision and reduce edge distortion.

An Apple patent suggests the corporation is working on a periscope-style zoom camera, so a zoom boost for the telephoto lens is possible. Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro is the most likely place to find this new capability. The periscope camera may arrive on the iPhone 15 in 2023, but Apple oracle Ming-Chi Kuo thinks otherwise.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has provided one of our earliest rumours about the iPhone 14’s front-facing camera, and it’s applicable to both the iPhone 14 Pro variant and the iPhone 14 basic edition. In order to improve FaceTime calls, Kuo anticipates the front-facing camera to be equipped with a focusing system. For low-light photography, an analyst expects that the iPhone 14 will have an even wider aperture (f/1.9) than its predecessor, which could improve image quality.

iPhone 14 Pro specs and battery life

iPhone 14 Pro’s specifications have not been confirmed, although it isn’t unusual for a new model to feature an upgraded processor, as is the case with every new iPhone.

We may expect an A16 Bionic processor to follow the A15 Bionic in terms of overall performance. An upgrade to a 4nm process node is envisaged for that chip. However, Apple may also make a 5G modem.

Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro is expected to deliver a significant increase in processing power compared to the A15 Bionic. It’s not obvious how much of an impact this will have on the typical user, but don’t expect the iPhone 14 Pro to struggle with any work.

Advertisements

Weirdly, according to Kuo, the A16 Bionic will only be found in the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, while the iPhone 14 will continue to use the A15 chip. First for Apple, which has always included improved silicon in its new iPhones, this would be a first. Another Shadow Leak release confirms this. However, this is simply conjecture at this point because of the tremendous chip shortage over the past two years.

Newer reports indicate that the iPhone 14 will use the same A15 Bionic chipset that powers this year’s iPhone 13 Pro models, making the situation even more confusing for Apple fans. According to teardowns, this chip has 6GB of RAM, but the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini only have 4GB of RAM. Perhaps an upgrade of this nature could help the iPhone 14 Pro appeal to more people than its standard predecessor, but it wouldn’t be a full chip overhaul.

According to a recent leak, Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro will include 8GB of memory. The iPhone 14 Pro might become an incredible powerhouse if its onboard RAM is increased, as Apple’s dedication to efficiency has allowed it to accomplish more with less RAM than the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Advertisements

Even if you don’t think your existing iPhone is slow, adding the extra RAM can be considered overkill. Analyst Jeff Pu, on the other hand, thinks that all four iPhone 14 versions will feature 6GB of RAM.

The iPhone 14 Pro is expected to have a storage capacity of up to 1TB, however there have been no confirmed speculations about this yet.

As of now, there are no speculations about the battery’s size or capacity. In our battery test, in which we repeatedly force the phone to reload web pages over a cellular connection until it dies, we’re optimistic that the iPhone 14 Pro will match or even beat the 11 hours and 42 minutes the iPhone 13 Pro managed. We’d expect the iPhone 14 Pro Max to have the same or better battery life as Apple continues to improve the efficiency of its chips and phones.

Advertisements

In terms of 5G, we expect the iPhone 14 Pro to make use of a new, more compact 5G modem chip. The lower size should reduce the amount of electricity needed to run the device, as well as provide the battery area to grow. That means that the iPhone 13’s already amazing battery life can be boosted even further.

Unfortunately, it appears that Qualcomm’s latest 5G technology, the Snapdragon X70, will not be available for the iPhone 14 Pro. For the first time, the chip will incorporate a 5G AI processor that will allow the modem system to use AI to improve a phone’s antenna and better control 5G beams flowing to and from a 5G phone. mmWave-based 5G networks, such those in stadiums and arenas, will benefit most from Qualcomm’s findings, but sub-6GHz 5G networks can also benefit from AI’s contributions.

There is a possibility that the iPhone 14 Pro will be equipped with satellite connectivity in addition to its current cellular and Wi-Fi capabilities. Speculation of an emergency satellite communications capability originally surfaced in the lead-up to the iPhone 13’s introduction last year. While that functionality did not come in time for those phones, trustworthy tipsters believe that the iPhone 14 models will have this capability. You can send text messages to emergency services using satellite networks when you’re in an area with poor cellular or Wi-Fi coverage, alerting them to your location.

iPhone 14 Pro outlook

For many people, the iPhone 14 Pro is the phone they’ve been waiting for, as the Pro variants are predicted to deliver a significant upgrade over previous generations of iPhones. Although it won’t look completely different from the iPhone 13 and iPhone 12, we believe this new iPhone generation will bring a design language and capabilities that will influence future iPhones. So here’s what the iPhone SE (2022) tells us about the iPhone 14 now that it’s available.

With no notch, Touch ID fingerprint recognition, a larger megapixel count for the main camera, and a USB-C port, the iPhone as we know it might be completely reimagined. As a result, other smartphones would have to follow suit if they want to be included on our best phones list.
