There are no new iPhone features in this month’s iOS 15.4.1 update, but it does offer a patch for quickly draining batteries that will appease a huge portion of Apple’s customer base.

About two weeks after iOS 15.4 was released, consumers began complaining that the upgrade was creating battery issues for them. Some iPhone customers reported that the upgrade has reduced the battery life of their devices by half.

It’s not unusual for the first software upgrades to have this issue. According to a tweet from Apple, “it’s usual for your applications and functionality to need to adapt during the first 48 hours of an upgrade.”

Even so, a follow-up update often aims to fix any issues with the first version, and that seems to be the case here. There have been concerns concerning battery life since the introduction of iOS 15.4, and this new version fixes those issues.

From I’ve been running iOS 15.4 in beta form since February and March, I haven’t seen any battery life issues on several devices. When I went on a week-long road trip and forgot my overnight phone charger, I was even using the iOS 15.4 beta on my iPhone 11 Pro Max. On a phone running iOS 15.4, I was able to get a week’s worth of battery life, leading me to believe that not everyone was affected by the fault in iOS 15.4.

Still, if you’ve seen your battery draining quickly after iOS 15.4 was loaded, you’ll want to upgrade iOS 15.4.1 immediately. Because of a significant security flaw in iOS 15, this software upgrade is a must-have.

In the initial iOS 15.4 release, the option to unlock your phone using Face ID even if you were wearing a face mask was included. In jurisdictions that allow it, the iOS 15.4 update also includes support for digital ID cards and driver’s licences.

Simply open the Settings app and choose General to begin the process of updating your iPhone to iOS 15.4.1. You should be able to find the iOS 15.4.1 update under Software Update.
