Huawei VP confirms the Mate 50’s existence

In a recent community forum, Huawei VP Consumer Business Group Strategy Marketing Department Vice President Li Changzhou hinted that the Huawei Mate 50 family would exist in the future. However, nothing is official just yet.

Depending on how you look at it, this may be seen as a kind of “return to form” for Huawei. Only one flagship line was presented last year; this is a step back from past years, when Huawei’s Mate series would have been simultaneously offering a flagship selection.

As one may expect, Li Changzhou did not provide any detailed information. He joined a discussion on the company’s forthcoming Smart Office Live February 27 event at MWC 2022, which you can watch live here. His response to an excited attendee asking whether the Mate 50 will be on hand at the event was candid and to the point. The remark may be roughly translated as follows: “The Mate 50 will arrive, but it won’t arrive until later this year. There are still a lot of fantastic items out there that need your consideration.”

The Mate line hasn’t had an official mention in a long time, but we’ll take it as a nod anyway. According to prior rumours, a new Huawei Mate gadget might be unveiled in June of this year. According to these rumours, we can probably conclude that the next iteration of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 CPU will be used in the next edition of Huawei’s Mate 50. However, given the existing legal situation, it would have to be a 4G-only device. Assuming, of course, that nothing unexpected happens in the meanwhile. However, all of this is just conjecture at this moment. Source (in Chinese) | Via
