In The Dropout, Elizabeth Holmes’ vivacity is the actual star. If you’ve seen it in the news, on TV or in Bad Blood, you’ll be familiar with the new Hulu series by Elizabeth Meriwether (the creator of The New Girl). And like with Inventing Anna, the tale here revolves on a big deception.
When she claimed that her business Theranos had uncovered secrets about how to analyse blood and that her brilliant creation could operate with only a few drops of blood, Elizabeth Holmes, in contrast to “Anna Delvey” (actual name Anna Sorokin), conned the elite. Both of these decreases plus Holmes’s decision to drop out of Stanford University are referenced in the show’s title.
The Dropout chronicles Holmes’ early years, including her decision to leave Stanford and start Theranos, as well as the ensuing scandal. A few of the challenges she faced were securing funding from venture capitalists, dealing with a board of directors worried about her conduct, and answering all of the press inquiries.
