The most recent Google Pixel 6a rumour suggests that an enhancement we’d hoped for, but assumed would never come, may really come to fruition.

Google’s next low-cost Pixel smartphone has been leaked by Twitter user Yogesh Brar, who released a list of essential characteristics. Since that would be a major improvement for Pixel A-series phones, the mention of a 90Hz display drew our eye.

Those with intimate knowledge appear to agree on the Pixel 6a’s reported 6.2-inch display size and the rumoured placement of the fingerprint sensor under the display (rather than on the back as on previous Pixel A-series phones). The leaker community is divided on the refresh rate. This is a big deal, since it may make or ruin Pixel 6a.

In spite of the fact that Google’s software and photographic skills should make the Pixel 6a stand out among its competitors, those same competitors, like as the OnePlus Nord 2, all feature refresh rates of 90Hz or 120Hz. For the Pixel 6a to continue with 60 Hz, no matter how muscly its chipset is, it would look bad (figuratively and literally).

While the Pixel 6a’s Tensor chip shares its name with those found in the normal Pixel 6 and Pro, Brar maintains that it is distinct from those chipsets. The Pixel 6a, on the other hand, might get a less powerful version of the original processor, but he hasn’t specified how. Or that it has a new chip that is the same or connected to the Tensor 2 processor that is anticipated in the Google Pixel 7’s next generation.

The Pixel 6a’s Tensor chip, 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage have all been leaked and rumoured, so that’s no longer an issue. It’s expected to have two 12MP cameras on the back (one for the primary camera, the other for the ultrawide), as well as an 8MP front-facing camera. Up to 30W wired charging is stated to be available for the 4,800 mAh battery.

The Pixel 5a was released in August of last year, and the Pixel 6a is expected to follow suit this year. In any event, Google I/O, the company’s Android-focused conference, will be held from May 11 to May 13.
