The Pixel 6a needs to be more widely available.

My sole query when Google’s Pixel 6a was unveiled yesterday was, “Where is it being sold?” This question was left unanswered at Google’s I/O presentation, but the good news is that the Pixel 6a is now available in more countries than the Pixel 5a was.

Last year, Google made the regrettable decision to exclusively offer the Pixel 5a in Japan and the United States. However, Google’s device availability website indicates that the Pixel 6a will only be available in the 12 countries where the Pixel 6 is currently sold. Puerto Rico, which does not presently have access to the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro like the rest of the United States, will also be receiving the device. The Google Tensor fun isn’t over for everyone.

As a result of the coronavirus epidemic, Google’s decision to restrict the availability of the Pixel 5a is acceptable. It’s wonderful that Google has made its cheaper phones accessible to people who may need to replace old or malfunctioning devices at a time when costs are growing.

Customers have plenty of options in this area of the smartphone market, with products like the iPhone SE (2022), the Samsung Galaxy A53, the OnePlus Nord 2 or the OnePlus Nord N20 all being available for purchase. In principle, better goods should result from more competition for customers’ attention and money, therefore having more options is always a positive thing.

It’s especially useful in the case of the Pixel 6a, which has a lot of entertaining software tricks saved for its own devices rather than being included into the Android operating system. In addition to Live Translate and Magic Eraser editing, which allow you to recolor or erase unwanted items from your images, these tools are included.

The Pixel 5a’s most serious shortcoming was a lack of stock, but it also suffered a number of other issues. There will be no wireless charging on the Pixel 6a, which is a bummer. We’re also worried about the fingerprint sensor built in the display of the Pixel 6a, which has been relocated from the rear of the previous phone.. The sensor on the Pixel 6 has been found to be sluggish.

However, we are confident in Google’s upcoming smartphone. With its bigger screen and more powerful camera system, the Pixel 6a may easily outshine the iPhone SE. Watch this space for our comprehensive assessment later this year.
