However, Ford has said that the functionality would be rolled out to the F-150 Lightning and E-Transit in the near future, as well as the Mustang Mach-E.

A Ford entertainment system equipped with Apple CarPlay will be able to take use of the EV routing feature. The EV routing system shows the anticipated remaining battery life of a user’s electric car at the end of a journey when a new navigational route is created.

Apple Maps will automatically include stops at EV charging stations if that trip needs numerous charges.

Ford Mach-E cars are now allowed to use the function according to a report published on Monday by 9to5Mac. When an iPhone user upgrades to iOS 15.4, the Apple Maps app should urge them to enable EV routing.

It is currently only available on the 2022 Mustang Mach-E and select 2021 Mustangs with specified SYNC software versions. Expanded support for other Ford vehicles will be rolled out later in 2022, according to the company.

The EV routing system was revealed at WWDC 2020 by Apple. This function is supported solely by BMW, which is the only major automobile manufacturer to provide it on certain of its models. Mustang Mach-E vehicles will be supported

Ford has said that this capability will be made available to 2021 Mustang Mach-Es with various software versions in 2022 through a Ford Power-Up upgrade. It also said that it is “working tirelessly” to provide additional features and software to buyers of the F-150 Lightning and E-Transit.

Apple iPhone users will need iOS 15.4 and Ford EV owners will need version 2.3.0 of the Power-Up upgrade from Ford.
