While the majority of Apple’s product selection is now up to date, a few gadgets and accessories have not gotten hardware updates in recent years.

Aside from new software additions, we’ve compiled a list of five Apple items that haven’t been updated in over two years. Previous-generation goods such as the iPhone 11 and Apple Watch Series 3 are not included in the list. Also New iPad models are also being tested as the debut date approaches

iPod touch

The iPod touch was recently upgraded in May 2019 with an A10 processor and a new 256GB storage capacity, making it nearly three years old.

The seventh-generation iPod touch has the same design as the sixth-generation model, with a 4-inch Retina display, a Home button without Touch ID, a 3.5mm headphone port, a Lightning connector, and a single speaker and microphone. The gadget comes in six different colours: Space Gray, Silver, Pink, Blue, Gold, and (PRODUCT)RED.

Apple’s website was overhauled last year, and the iPod touch’s product page is no longer prominently advertised, although the gadget is still available for purchase. There haven’t been any real reports regarding Apple working on a new iPod touch, so it’s unclear whether the gadget will ever be upgraded again or whether it will be phased away.

Magic Mouse 2

The second-generation Magic Mouse for the Mac, which was released in October 2015, is already more than six years old. There have been no hardware modifications to the mouse in that time, but it now comes with a braided USB-C to Lightning connection in the package. When paired with a 24-inch iMac, the Magic Mouse 2 comes in a variety of new matching colours.

The Magic Mouse 2 is notorious for having a Lightning connector on the bottom side, which prohibits it from being used while charging.

Apple Pencil 2

The second-generation Apple Pencil, which was released in October 2018 alongside a new iPad Pro, will shortly be three and a half years old.

The ability to magnetically attach the second-generation Apple Pencil to the third-generation iPad Pro or newer for wireless charging is a notable feature of the second-generation Apple Pencil over the first. Users may now choose between sketching tools and brushes within applications like Notes by double pressing on the built-in touch sensor on the second-generation Apple Pencil.

High-end Mac mini

While lower-end Mac mini versions were upgraded in November 2020 with Apple’s custom-designed M1 chip, higher-end models using Intel processors have not been updated since October 2018, with the exception of Apple reshuffling storage capacity.

Apple is expected to offer new high-end Mac mini combinations powered by its M1 Pro and M1 Max CPUs later this year, according to rumours.

AirPods Pro

The AirPods Pro were released in October of this year, making them over two and a half years old.

Apple expects to release the second-generation AirPods Pro in the fourth quarter of 2022, which spans from October through December of that year, according to reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. According to Kuo, the new AirPods Pro will include an enhanced wireless chip, lossless audio compatibility, and a redesigned charging case that can make a sound.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and Debby Wu, Apple has tested a more compact design for the second-generation AirPods Pro that would eliminate the stems that drop below the earbuds. If this is the final design, the new AirPods Pro may resemble Apple’s Beats Studio Buds, which were launched earlier this Last year.
