Elden Ring publisher Bandai Namco published a minor update to the 1.03 Patch today. Starscourge Radahn’s groove was restored thanks to a tweak they slipped in. To make him look weak in comparison to his more violent contemporaries like Maliketh, the initial update lowered the damage dealt by the formidable swordsman and his little baby horse.

Elden Ring is still being tinkered with by FromSoftware, who wants to make sure it’s exactly the perfect amount of difficult. The only patch notice for this update is “Fixed a fault in the balance adjustment of the boss ‘Starscourge Radahn,’ in which the power of various strikes was mistakenly lowered,” making Radahn the hero of a single act update.

Previously, Radahn was dealt a severe blow in patch 1.03, which reduced his weapon and projectile hitboxes, lowered his melee damage, and altered his homing attacks significantly. There was no doubt he needed some work, but the fact that you could watch summoned NPCs pound him on their own made him less of a burden.

Using summoning isn’t necessarily a bad thing. As Pat learned, using the Elden Ring’s summoning feels like cheating but is a tonne of fun. Using the Elden Ring’s summons feels like cheating but is a tonne of fun.

To face Radahn now, you’ll have to deal with a pounding, so you’ll need to be well-prepared for it. It’s never a bad idea to brush up on Elden Ring basics, so check out our Elden Ring boss guide for some detailed breakdowns.
