Samsung needs to make its upcoming low-cost smartphone stand out from the crowd.
If there is a successor to the Galaxy S21 FE, you can bet that Samsung is already working on it. Even though reports have already surfaced regarding what Samsung may be working on, we expect the Galaxy S22 FE to debut later this year or early in 2017. (and other rumors that suggest the FE may not see a successor)
Even if Samsung doesn’t release the Galaxy S22 FE for a while, there are a few things we’d want to see addressed. A month after its release, the Galaxy S21 FE was already obsolete because of the $799 Galaxy S22, which debuted in February. The S21 FE is a bit of a strange duck when compared to the S22, which is only $100 more.
The Galaxy S21 FE is in an even stranger position now that the Galaxy A53 has launched and is $250 cheaper than the S21 FE. Because of this, the Galaxy S22 FE will have to perform flawlessly if Samsung does not give up on a phone that may be nearing its end of life.
Everything we know about the Galaxy S22 FE has been gathered here. If Samsung decides to go ahead and build the Galaxy S22 FE, this is what we imagine it will look like.
Samsung Galaxy S22 FE: Possible release date
Galaxy S22 FE’s release date is unknown, and Samsung’s track record with this phone doesn’t provide much insight. A full six months after the rest of the Galaxy S20 lineup, the Galaxy S20 FE was released in October of that year. A year after the release of the Galaxy S21 phones, the Galaxy S21 FE didn’t come until January 22.
S21 FE shipped when it did because of supply chain and other delays that aren’t likely to happen again this year. As far as we can tell, the Galaxy S22 FE is likely to come in October because it makes sense for Samsung to introduce its flagship phones and subsequent FE versions at different times. For now, we can only speculate on a possible release date based on rumors.
In addition, the Galaxy S22 FE may never be released. In fact, many sources have told Sammobile(opens in a new tab) that Samsung is ditching the phone. Because Samsung’s flagships and the superb midrange Galaxy A phones are pushing the Galaxy S22 FE to its limits, it makes sense to us to discontinue it.
Samsung Galaxy S22 FE: Potential price
Let’s presume for the time being that the Galaxy S22 FE will be released. Since both of these phones debuted at $699, it’s easy to figure out how much this phone will cost.
For the S20 FE, the price of $699 represented a $300 savings over the S20’s original price of $1,199. Even though the Galaxy S21 FE was $200 less expensive than Samsung’s flagship phone, you could argue that the Galaxy S22 was a better deal because it arrived soon after the lower-priced S21 FE, which was released in 2021.
Samsung Galaxy S22 FE: Specs
A leaker’s rumor According to Fat Water, Samsung is testing a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chip for the Galaxy S22 FE. When it comes to low-end chips, the term MediaTek is always a bad warning. The Galaxy S22 FE and the Galaxy S22 would be separated by this as well (which uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1). The FE line’s approximate parity with the more expensive phone on which it is based is one of its selling features.
Additionally, this phone is said to have a 4,500mAh battery like the Galaxy S20 FE and S21 FE, according to the report. There is a possibility that this gadget is the Galaxy A53 Pro, which is also not confirmed by It’s Fat Water.
A look at what we wish to see in the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE
We were pleased with the Galaxy S21 FE, but there are a few things we’d like to see improved upon in any successor. Hopefully, Samsung hopes to include these features in the Galaxy S22 FE—again, assuming the phone is ever released.
Samsung Galaxy S22 FE: What we want to see
In recent times, it appears as though Samsung’s flagships have had battery life issues. In our battery test at 120Hz, the Galaxy S21 FE failed to endure even 8 hours. Honestly, that’s not a good thing. The Galaxy S22 FE needs to be around for a lot longer.
Only if you want to lock in the 120Hz refresh rate on your Samsung Galaxy S21 FE display do so. The adaptive refresh rate of the Galaxy S21 and S22 is not available on the S21 FE. For the Galaxy S22 FE, we’d want to see Samsung solve this issue.
With the Galaxy A73, Samsung secretly unveiled its new midrange smartphone lineup, which includes the Galaxy A73. The phone’s 108MP primary camera is the most intriguing feature. Samsung’s Galaxy S21 FE sports a 12MP camera sensor. The Galaxy S22 FE should include a 108MP camera.
For $100 less, you can get the Galaxy S21 FE, a better phone in every way except for the fact that it has a lower-quality processor, fewer RAM and less storage space. The S21 FE is placed in a strange position because it costs an additional $100 to upgrade to a better phone. We’d want to see a more compelling financial argument for purchasing the Galaxy S22 FE over the Galaxy S22 instead of the latter (or Galaxy S23 when that phone arrives in 2023).
An 8MP telephoto camera on the Galaxy S21 FE was disappointing, and we hope that the Galaxy S22 FE’s telephoto camera will have a resolution of at least 12MP.
