This is the storey of how The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was flipped upside down into a drama. We’re not sure who requested a new Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, but at least they didn’t try to catch lightning in a bottle again — there is only one Will Smith, and you can’t imitate his comedy and get away with it.

This entire saga began on YouTube, where filmmaker Morgan Cooper released a teaser for a programme called Bel-Air, which recreated the comedy as a drama. He even used local performers to cast it. After the tape went viral and Hollywood heavyweights saw it for themselves, we realised that Bel-Air was becoming a genuine programme. Also iPhone SE 3 leak shows first True real-life image

So, immediately after the Super Bowl 2022 live stream of all things, a fresh and modern Fresh Prince relaunch lands on our screens.

Bel-Air trailer

The Bel-Air teaser makes it obvious that this isn’t your childhood’s Fresh Prince. While there is a brief shot of Will and Jazz staring up at the Banks family mansion, the inclusion of Nas’ “Made You Look” underscores that things are different here.

Hillary Banks of 2022 is determined and self-assured. The new Carlton appears to be more akin to Chuck Bass than Alfonso Ribeiro’s interpretation. And who is this new Uncle Phil? He doesn’t grin and is eager to get Will on the right track.

And what about this Will? He’s not as well-liked around town as the previous Will was.

Bel-Air release date and episodes schedule

The first episode of Bel-Air will air on Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 13, 2022). And, unlike other new episodes launched in conjunction with the Super Bowl (which is also on Peacock), you’ll most likely be able to watch Bel-Air before the big game, as Peacock’s new shows normally air around 3 a.m. ET.

Three episodes will be released at the same time on the 13th, with the remaining episodes arriving fortnightly (likely on the following Sundays). We will update this storey if we have more information on the timetable.
