To provide a fluid gaming experience, the finest gaming displays have high refresh rates. It’s becoming increasingly usual to see panels with refresh rates of 240Hz and 360Hz, which some gamers find unacceptable. The Asus ROG Swift 500Hz was unveiled at Computex 2022 and appears to be overkill. However, while 500Hz may not be required by most gamers, even serious PC gamers, it may be what competitive players are searching for. Competitive gamers, according to The Verge(opens in new tab), will notice a big difference in performance with this gaming display.

Nvidia claims that the smoother animations on this monitor eliminate ghosting and make tracking targets easier. Input latency can be measured and reduced by using Nvidia’s new Reflex Analyzer technology, which includes a collection of technologies. G-Sync eSports mode and a “Vibrance” option meant to enable more light go through the LCD crystals are also included in the new display. Additionally, the display makes use of other cutting-edge technology to enhance response times.

The competitive gamer who wants to get the most out of their gaming display is the target audience for this monitor. But to get the most out of the 500Hz display, you’ll need a powerful gaming system. Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 40-series graphics cards are expected to appear in the second half of 2022, according to reports. Based on the rumoured specifications of the GPU series, games should be able to run at very high frame rates and hence benefit from the high refresh rate of this display.

The release date or price of the ROG Swift 500Hz gaming monitor has not been announced by Nvidia. Even though it’s only 1080p, we expect it will cost more than $1,000 because of its high refresh rate. As of now, we have no idea if it will be released this year or in 2023 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

Even if this gaming display isn’t for the typical consumer (or even most gamers), it’s always exciting to see corporations push technology to its limits….. For all we know, it may become one of the greatest monitors on the market for the esports community it’s aimed towards.
