It’s official: The Essex Serpent will premiere on May 13 on Apple TV+, the company said today.

The #EssexSerpent debuts on Apple TV+ on May 13th at 10 p.m.
Beginning on May 13th, two new episodes of The Essex Serpent will be available for viewing. The series is based on the best-selling Sarah Perry book of the same name and follows the widow Cora Seaborne, who goes to Essex after escaping an abusive marriage. In Essex’s little town of Aldwinter, Seaborne is enticed by tales of a mythological serpent known as the Essex Serpent, which he hopes to encounter. In the role of Will Ransome, Hiddlestone portrays the head of a tiny town. Danes stepped in for Keira Knightley, who had been cast as Seaborne.
It started filming at Maldon, Essex, in March of that year.
A steady trickle of new content is being added to Apple’s streaming service, Apple TV+. Friday Night Baseball on Apple TV+ is the most major recent announcement, with two exclusive live games each week, as well as linear programming and on-demand material, to be shown on Fridays.
