Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who has a stellar track record when it comes to Apple rumours, has a fresh one for us today. He speculates that the corporation is working on a bizarre Frankenstein gadget that would be a home speaker running a TV OS and have a camera.

It all begins to make sense when you give it a little thought. FaceTime camera and tVOS would be on a new HomePod. Yes, that’s correct! Video calls may be made on the big screen using your streaming/TV box’s camera, which is linked to a television. In addition, it’ll make an excellent speaker for energising your living space. A lot of things make sense when you think about them, like we discussed before.

“The combined product” would be “at the core of Apple’s approach” to living rooms, with HomePod minis “surrounding that around the house,” according to Gurman. There may be a new HomePod tiny in the works, but it won’t be a straight successor to the cancelled HomePod. Rather, the hybrid gadget will fill that function.
