Apple tipped to add 11-inch MacBook Air to obsolete list

Reports claim Apple and LG Display are working on a foldable OLED tablet for both the iPad and MacBook that can be used in landscape or portrait mode.

The article makes no mention of a release date or the size of the gadget that Apple could be working on. This isn’t, however, the first time we’ve heard that Apple is working on foldable tablets and laptops of some sort. Ross Young, DSCC’s Ross Young:

Despite this, we have included Apple in our foldable notebook plan. At the highest scale, about 20.x”, we’ve heard there’s interest. Apple may launch a new type of device with this size, a notebook with a full-size keyboard when folded and a display that can be used with an external keyboard when not folded and folded. UHD/4K resolution or even higher may be possible at that size. However, it is possible that the time frame will be in 2026 or 2027, rather than 2025.

As a result, don’t anticipate a foldable iPad or MacBook to supersede the M1 iPad Pro (2021) or the MacBook Pro (2021) in the near future.
